AHRC Common Ground 2016

Network students Nicola Pennill, Ryan Kirkbride, and Sara D'Amario (pictured above, left to right) took part in the AHRC Commons first national event, Common Groundheld at the Ron Cooke Hub and TFTV on the University of York’s Heslington East campus. The event brought together members of the AHRC community from all over the UK including Higher Education Institutions, cultural organisations, museums and galleries. Participants were able to share their knowledge with the public and other researchers, as well as create new networks and find inspiration to further develop their own work.

The network students showcased their work in a exhibition as part of the "demonstrate" zone and ran several interactive activities involving technology used and developed as part of their first year PhD studies. These included a real-time 3D body tracking software and a vocal chord microphone known as a "electrolaryngograph". The students also displayed posters outlining their projects and discussing results found from the first 12 months of their study.
